Discover Ornement, a French design label that brings new life to vintage clothing. Our philosophy is simple yet powerful: transform the old into the contemporary, repair what’s worn, and celebrate textile craftsmanship.
In our Paris atelier, every piece tells a story. We carefully select vintage garments and give them a new aesthetic dimension—sometimes through bold color contrasts, other times through inventive restructuring. In the process, we occasionally find hidden treasures in old jacket pockets, like vintage Omega or Breitling watches, forgotten tokens of a stylish past.
The Art of Upcycling
Our upcycling process goes beyond recycling; it reinvents, reimagines, and breathes new life into exceptional garments.
Each Ornement collection features limited-edition and one-of-a-kind creations. From reworked military shirts to transformed workwear jackets and our signature VAGUE.O1 collection, every piece reflects our commitment to responsible and creative fashion. Occasionally, faint traces of luxury perfume linger on the fabric—reminders of the garment’s past journeys—adding unexpected depth to the experience.
Our Philosophy
Ornement was born from a vision: to elevate fashion through creative upcycling. Our Paris-based label specializes in transforming vintage clothing, giving it a second life through repair, customization, and artistic reinterpretation.
Inspired by quality fabrics and the timeless charm of vintage wear, we launched Ornement to raise awareness about textile overconsumption while offering truly unique alternatives. Each piece we create embodies our commitment to more conscious fashion—without sacrificing innovation or craftsmanship.
We favor a hands-on, artisanal approach rooted in French savoir-faire. All production takes place in our Paris workshop, allowing us to control every step of the process—from the careful selection of vintage garments to their final transformation. This process often involves deep cleaning, structural redesign, and fine detailing.
Our Story
Founded by Baptiste and Hugo, Ornement emerged from their shared passion for vintage fashion and their desire to reimagine contemporary style. Based in Paris’s 18th arrondissement, the label quickly gained attention for its innovative take on upcycling and its distinctive aesthetic.
Since our first F/W 2017 collection, we’ve developed a strong visual identity that merges military influences, functional workwear, and modern silhouettes. Our team divides its time between Paris and Bangkok, drawing creative energy from these contrasting environments. During sourcing trips, we sometimes carry vintage cameras to capture textures and street scenes that inspire future designs.
Over the years, Ornement has been recognized by influential media outlets like Konbini, Fashion Network, and Manifesto XXI for our creative vision and commitment to upcycling. We’ve also collaborated with iconic brands like Nike and Converse, sharing our customization skills in workshops and performances.
Our Process
Each Ornement creation follows a meticulous journey:
- Selection: We find quality vintage garments, focusing on noble materials and durable construction.
- Design: Our creative team imagines how to transform each item while preserving its character and history.
- Transformation: In our Paris studio, each garment is deconstructed and rebuilt using artisanal techniques like dyeing, patchwork, and decorative detailing.
- Finishing: We pay close attention to every detail, ensuring each piece meets our high standards—often following deep cleaning procedures to prepare garments for reconstruction.
This process allows us to offer limited series and unique pieces that carry a story and embody our vision of conscious, creative fashion.
Our Creative Adventures
Collaborations and Performances
The world of Ornement extends beyond our regular collections through collaborations and performances with major brands. For the launch of Nike Tech Pack, we hosted a week-long workshop in Paris, sharing our upcycling expertise and creative methods with participants.
Our collaboration with Converse resulted in a unique creative performance, captured by Studio Périmètre, where we transformed classic pieces from the brand into original, forward-thinking designs. These experiences reflect our ability to apply our artistic vision across diverse fashion contexts—without compromising our commitment to sustainability.
Photoshoots and Art Direction
Our collections come to life through carefully directed photoshoots that capture the spirit of Ornement. For our VAGUE.O1 collection, we worked with photographer Matteo Verzini and models Clara Bruna and Eliott Margueron to highlight the unique construction and detailing of our garments.
The photoshoot for our debut F/W 2017 collection—shot by Fabien with Pauline and Nelson in Desnoyez—set the tone for Ornement’s distinctive visual language. Our curated vintage selection in Bangkok, photographed by Kimmo Kauko with Tanya Korotkova, explored the contrast between aged garments and vibrant urban backdrops.
